Good observation, Maybe.
Sadly, there is a consequence to making Pub Contract play more "matchmaker-balanced" (GǪor some could argue, more "easy-mode" on players).
Back when Dust was Super-BRUTAL (so rough you couldn't move 12 paces on the map without clone blood spurting out of you from a sniper-round, or Lav frontwheel, or Rail-installation)GǪ you were FORCED to learn situation awareness. You literally couldn't spend any quality time in the match until you learned to pay attention to your surroundings. Players used to cry until they were able to develop enough S-A. It was the equivalent to a Drill Instructor you despised and feared, but he taught you what how to keep yourself and your people from getting killed in combat.
NowGǪ with these "softer", "gentler" Dust pub matches, you can finally have fun playing loose and free across the map, hardly targeted as frequently as you used to two years agoGǪ.[:ugh: but you are no longer pressured to learn a darn thing about S-A anymore!
I was caught in a 1-v-1 fight with a red HAV once, on this rocky cliffside road. I fought the HAV with just my two feet for 45 seconds. I couldn't chase the HAV away, because I had used up all my AV grenades against him. But I couldn't run either, because staying close to him was the only way to avoid being effectively targeted by his main turret. You know the kind of fight I'm describing, like Gandalf and the Balrog. Of course in the end of the fight, my finger got tired and I was killed.
GǪ.But I could then see on the overhead map, a Blue player was standing right THERE on the cliff 10 paces away from the fight I just had---with his back turned and looking the wrong way. ! What's the matter with you? Didn't you hear the HAV's motor and hear my grenade blasts? Didn't you spot a red blob on your HUD radar, wiggling around RIGHT BEHIND YOU as you stooped there? Weren't you curious what that commotion was?
Yes,GǪ the wounded HAV eventually limped over to the clueless blue player after defeating me, and executed her as well. GǪI would have gladly done the same in the HAV player's place. If a 70 lb Rottweiler stands there while you break into his owner's apartment and club the owner over the head and clean out the apartment of all the loot---before you leave, CLUB THE DOG over the head too, for just standing there and not knowing what to do. Call itGǪ "Clueless Tax" that the dog has to pay.
Back in 2013, the "Tax" for being clueless on a Dust battlefield was much, much higher. I very much miss those days.

I think not. OP is clearly in charge of all of their faculties. HAV pilots are just souless douchbags whose only purpose for existing in the pathetic hive mind state they do is to ruin the days of hard working, freedom loving, god fearing Americans.
Adamance, you crack me up! Thanks for the post. Too funny!
GǪ When you realize there are holes in the S-A or the "give me some help over here" mindset that your team ought to have in a game like this, there ARE some ways to try to address it.
Find a single buddy you can rely on, and "squad" only with her/him regularly. (yes, this requires some networking and socializing).
Watch some EVE Online player videos, and hear the amazing MIC coordination those players achieve---no SOCOM imitations or rubbish code words, just real folks communicating quickly and easily to each other. Then try to achieve that with your players in some of the matches. (even though I know it's hard for console players, I always try to endorse the MIC in this game).
Try the very risky and bold "This is Overwatch!" team commander routine, and try to suggest targets to the entire team during the entire match. (this is very difficult because the wrong kind of voice can sound annoyingly pushy to the anonymous players, instead of being helpful to them).
